IMEI (International Mobile Equipment Identity) is a 15- or 17-digit code that uniquely identifies mobile phone sets.
The IMEI code can enable a GSM (Global System for Mobile communication) or UMTS (Universal Mobile Telecommunications Service) network to prevent a misplaced or stolen phone from initiating calls.
IMEI code can be manipulated by phone users but it might be illegal in your country, so don’t even try it.
To check your phone IMEI, you can either check:
– Your phone’s carton
– The back of your phone or battery.
– MTK Engineering (Android)
Generally, you check your IMEI code with *#06# and all standard phones should pop up the IMEI Code.
Your IMEI code is unique and you don’t have to share with people and if you must share, don’t include the last 3-5 numbers.
